The Great Murder Mystery of Radipole Sensory Garden
Murder Mystery Radipole Sensory Garden As volunteers who look after the Sensory garden, we're used to finding all manner of items when we go to work there. From the ubiquitous take away wrappers, to cigarette butts, dog poo bags and even strange things like a broken fairy hidden in amongst the plants. (Think that must have been related to our fairy trail, where children enjoy searching for their little doors and windows.) Well, last week was a new one on us. Hot afternoon, late in the day, park was quiet when I noticed a mum and baby staring at the fountain bowl we'd just put in, birds have certainly...
Volunteers Worth Their Weight in Gold…or Should That be Seeds? November 2024
Unusually for us, last Monday's volunteers session in the sensory garden was conducted in the warmth of sunshine, much appreciated after days of dour grey weather. It was a case of many chores, including the planting of wallflowers ready for a spring show, though that really should have been done before we planted the bulbs. Our sensory garden really is a learning curve on so many levels....

Exhilarated; Wow…Just Wow About Wildlife; 2022
It was in the middle of a heatwave, the grass was parched, temps already soaring early morning, but could the shade of our age old willows entice families to come along. Come they certainly did! Revealed;- Some Hidden Gems; Radipole Park and Gardens
Watching bats sweeping to and fro in these gardens are one of my treasured childhood memories, though what they were probably feeding on, not such good memories! Playing tennis in the evenings usually meant you spent more time swiping away those mozzies who seemed determined to devour you....

Surprised? No Mowers? Giving Nature a Chance in Radipole Gardens
Though most of the comments we received at our engagement tent were full of complements, one or two people approached me to ask why the grass hadn't been cut as it was looking rather long and unkempt. As I explained to them, there is a very good reason for that...
Hayley and her Hedgehogs; Why Protecting our Wildlife Really Matters
Here at Radipole we have our own identity that we are very proud of. Sometimes referred to as the Cinderella gardens of Weymouth, beautiful but secreted away in the town's proverbial back kitchen means that these gardens are a quiet green oasis away from the hustle and bustle of a busy sea side resort. Not only that but we are lucky enough to run side by side with Radipole lake and its bird reserve, making this space a perfect wildlife haven. Something we are committed to improving....
