You Win..We Win; Your Views Matter
A busy old time for posting on here, but that's because there is so much going on behind the scenes with our big Heritage Lottery Bid. We are building up to our final submission and I promise that we'll post news on here soon to keep you all updated with what's happening...
Helping Hands are Always Welcome; Asda’s Green Tokens.
We've just crossed another wonderful event off our list. Last Sunday's Band in the Park was well attended, despite not only fierce competition from other large events in the area but also numerous, not to be missed, sporting finals on tv! But as ever, we can't rest on our laurels, it's onwards and upwards with our fund raising for the Sensory garden, even more important as it's only a couple of months away before the ground works start! Events held in our gardens aren't the only way we raise money, we also look to any grants available and various schemes whereby we can add to our coffers. Over...
Excitement; Summer is Here! Keeping it Simple
Summer is Here! Our website was created to promote, inform about events and share our love of Radipole gardens here in Weymouth. But sometimes it's just nice to post simple photos of our stunning gardens....
And the Band Played On; Weymouth Concert Brass Band
I can't believe we are already over half way through the year! Summer is finally upon us, delicious warmth on face, birds music-making in the trees and it's time to drag out and brush off those picnic baskets. What better way to spend a hot summer's day than lying in the dappled shade of our willows, liquid refreshment in hand, those scrummy fresh scones, cream and jam just beckoning you from our tea tent...
Today’s Children Making Tomorrows Memories; Radipole’s Heritage.
Radipole's Heritage; As a Friends group of Radipole Park and Gardens, we frequently give talks about the history of our gardens to various groups around the area, from schools to nursing homes....
Can a Good Old Stomp Be Good for You? Wellbeing in Nature.
When running events in Radipole gardens, we invite along people that complement our ethos, such was the case when we organised our Wildlife & Wellbeing event back in in May. One of the ladies who attended that day, Emma Pritchard, led people on a 'stomp' through the gardens. Being a great believer in the power of nature to help heal mind and body, what she spoke about really resonated with me. We often see groups walking through our gardens, enjoying the sounds, smells, sights of nature and of course the company of others. A study undertaken by researchers at Michigan University, found that joining in group...
Sorry Folks CANCELLED. Lace & Wool Create a Great Day Out:
So sorry that we have had to cancel our annual jolly for reasons beyond our control, but fear not, we will be back again next year with another gardens packed day next year. What better time of year for a coach trip to glorious Devon than June? First a short stop in Tiverton, whose history reaches way back into the depths of time. This area being occupied right from the Stone Age, through the reign of King Alfred's Wessex, Normans and their castle building, Middle Ages and prosperity with the wool trade. The Heatcote factory still manufactures specialist textiles here. Afterwards we head for Knightshayes Court. Both sites have...
An All Inclusive Event for Everyone to Enjoy; Multicultural Bring and Share Picnics.
Sometimes events pop up that makes you remember that there is far more love and compassion in the world than today's media would often have you believe. Arranged by the Dorset Race Equality Council, these are a series of multicultural picnics in nearby parks and our local one held in Radipole play park area is being supported by Weymouth Town Council. The idea behind them being that anyone and everyone from all our diverse local communities can come together in a relaxed setting to share their food and take time out to socialise. A chance to try cuisines of different nationalities. Talk to people who you might...
Plants Galore Sausage Rolls and Sensory Gardens
Nope, I'm not having one of my dizzy moments. i'm hoping some of you good folk will come along and help us for a variety of reasons. This coming Saturday 18th May is our annual plants sale in the Radipole United Church hall on Spa Road 10-12. The first good reason to help is that it will be a day when my hubster jumps for joy...
Surprised? No Mowers? Giving Nature a Chance in Radipole Gardens
Though most of the comments we received at our engagement tent were full of complements, one or two people approached me to ask why the grass hadn't been cut as it was looking rather long and unkempt. As I explained to them, there is a very good reason for that...
