Exciting Moment…A Tour of the Site; Radipole Play Park August 2023
It is quite fascinating to watch and be a part of this process as part of the Lottery Submission, our journey through to achieving the award, and of course, somewhat turbulent path towards the project’s completion.
Our day started off with a meeting with Laura Joyner and James Dennis from the Lottery.
All manner of things covered.
Then it was up-sticks and quick march along through Radipole gardens and up to the working part of the site.
Time to don high viz vests and take our tour.
Minus all the chain linked fencing and accoutrements it looks vast!
Strange to think that in a few months time this area will be bustling, kiosk and toilets, new play equipment, petanque courts, table tennis tables, MUGA with its basketball and football and two new tennis courts, free to use.
Not forgetting the Friends Sensory Garden, which looked small on a plan but huge on the ground.
We’ll be looking for volunteers to help with its creation and maintenance, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re looking for something to do in the great outdoors and communing with nature.
We’ll be putting a shout out before long.
The old Radipole play park area now deserted, can’t wait for the new equipment to arrive.
What remains of many people’s childhood memories.
Sadly, none of the surrounding slabs could be saved, I had ideas for re-cycling those, but apparently they were just 90-year-old concrete and broke up when being removed, but will be re-used as hardcore.
Things will happening fast soon, so follow us and watch as our new Radipole play park starts to take shape.
