Weymouth Mayor Cllr Colin Huckle and Lady Mayoress planting Queen's Jubilee willow in Radipole gardens 2022

Queen’s Jubilee Tree; Baby Willow Joins the Royal Family; Radipole Gardens.

Well, for poor Nikki Latham from Chesil Radio, the start to her day couldn't have been any wetter as she attended the Queen's Jubilee Tree planting in Radipole gardens, there to give her live report on such regal matters. The gardeners, well equipped in their all weather gear, as they prepared the hole for the garden's youngest willow. All it needed was Mayor, Cllr. Colin Huckle and Lady Mayoress, and both arrived suitably adorned with Weymouth's ceremonial jewels, fit for such royal proceedings....

Plant Sale 2022. Excited; A New Year and it’s Time To Sow.

Well the year has begun very kindly to us weather wise, so not sure if making a start on sowing in the greenhouse is wise or tempting fate! The cuttings taken in autumn are already sprouting some healthy looking roots. Each year we have a plant sale to raise funds for the gardens, but the last couple of years have been difficult as Covid scuppered most of our events, resulting in  having to sell plants from our drive. Community…That’s What its all About; Pruning Radipole Community Orchard

We had a fantastic turn out at our Pruning Radipole Community Orchard. The three beaming amigos you see below are Friends of Radipole Park & Gardens. Why do they look so happy? Have they discovered a pot of gold? Maybe found it takes only three men to lift a long pole? No they've found something way, way better. Volunteers!...

Free Pumpkins Galore; 450 Years On and Which Side Are You?

This year we're combining our annual pumpkin carving with Weymouth's 450 celebrations. Thanks to a generous grant from Weymouth Town Council we can supply 100 free pumpkins to be carved at our All Hallows' Hoolies. When you arrive at Radipole gardens queue up and sign in to receive your free pumpkin, one per child. You'll then be directed to a carving table with tools, but we respectfully request that parents supervise their children during this activity, after all its good fun to do these things together. Mind you, I do remember a couple of somewhat eager parents last time taking this very seriously, taking over charge of...

Welcome to our Free Radipole Community Orchard; 10 Years On and Still Going Strong.

It's that time of year again, the sun sinks lower, leaves start to fall, fruits ripen. Had a mooch through our community orchard today, to see what's available. Fruit, nuts and berries dotted here and there, plenty of wildlife feasting on the fallers and fruits in the trees, especially enjoying the bumper crop of golden crabapples. These small, apple-like fruits might be sharp to the tongue but can be used in so many ways, from jellies to liquors. Wildlife Loving our Stunning Meadows at Radipole; Wildlife & Wellbeing

Have you been to visit our wildlife meadow at the far end of the play-park this year? It is blooming lovely, and that's official. Emily Brown, Weymouth's Parks Operation and Development Officer paid a visit to create a report on its progress and was blown away by what she saw and wanted to share it with us all....
