Excited; July 2023 and Lottery Project Works Begun!

Well, o.k. we’ll admit, maybe not the most of exciting photos, but to those of us who’ve high-fived on occasions then ploughed the depths of despair over the last eight years. To us this is a moment of pure happiness.

We, and probably you, have heard so many times ‘it’s starting, ‘ ‘not long now,’ and all those platitudes bandied over the last couple of years.

None of this was through anyone’s fault, it was purely circumstances, the biggest of that being Covid!

During which meetings were still ongoing, albeit from our own homes via Zoom

When the world emerged and we thought it was chocks away, what followed was huge price hikes.

More meetings, many, many meetings.

We all had to find a way that we could deliver what we promised to the Lottery Board with the funds we had.

Once a revised, heavily-engineered plan was put together, our Lottery advisors had to take it back to the panel for submission…now that was a nail biting time.

We could have lost our funding and project right there.

I cannot even begin to describe the emotions on everyone’s face waiting for that final decision Zoom meeting to start.

Not only did we get the result we wanted, but the team were praised for what they had achieved with the funds available, considering how prices of absolutely everything had rocketed.

A huge amount of that success was down to Ben Heath our Weymouth Town Council Project Manager, who worked non-stop to make sure our Lottery Project happened.

Now there’s machinery on site (not the biggest bit of equipment we’ll agree.)

A hut.

And even two skips!

Guess what…we spotted a lesser yellow hatted being bobbing behind the hedge.
