New Play Area and Kiosk; Excited…Nearing Completion! February 2024

Excited…Nearing completion Radipole’s new play area

Updates courtesy  WTC website.

There’s lots to update everyone on at Radipole Park and Gardens! The Kiosk building and decking area is now really taking shape and is due for completion at the end of February, this will include a catering kiosk, selling snacks and drinks with a raised decking and seating area as well as three permanent toilets.

The main block walls of the building will be cladded with interpretation panels depicting the hidden heritage of the park, this will make for an attractive looking building that will sit in the location really well.

Due to the very wet weather in previous months the completion of all the landscape elements of the project are now due to be completed at the end of March. This will hopefully coincide with the weather getting warmer and will encourage lots of visitors to come and visit the park.

The new play area has been levelled now and additional seeding and planting will be happening over the next two months to make it welcoming for the Spring opening.

The various sports courts will be having their court markings painted very shortly and will then be ready for the public to start using them. The basketball court has already had new backboards alongside the new end units for the multi use game area (MUGA). The Tennis nets will also be installed shortly.

The Friends of Radipole Park & Gardens are gearing up for their work in constructing the sensory garden during February and they will be putting out notices looking for more volunteers to come and help with planting in March.

This will be then be turned into a regular Friends Gardening Club activity which will involve helping to manage the sensory garden but be a great social get together and fun activity at the same time.

If you are interested in getting involved contact the Friends Group through their website https://radipolepark.co.uk/

The Council are working on a programme of events that will kick off in the April to encourage people into the park as the weather improves and make the most of the new facilities available. There will be an opening event to officially open the park in April more details about this will follow.

Keep an eye out on the Council media posts for more information.
