Ringing in the New; Radipole Gardens Events 2019

We would like to hope that all our followers enjoyed their festive holiday and will go on to have a very Happy and Healthy New.

This will be a very busy and important year for the Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens group. 2019 will see us continue working on phase II of our Parks for People Heritage Lottery Bid to be submitted by the end of this year.

Many hours of work goes on behind the scenes by both the Friends volunteers and members of local government on this project, from researching and customer surveys, to documenting figures and arranging walk-in consultations.

But of course that is just the unseen chunk of the proverbial iceberg sunken below the waterline, bobbing above is our hands on work organising events for people to come along and enjoy these wonderful gardens.

Already we are up and running with events. The first this year is the annual Table Top Sale at the Radipole United Reformed Church on Saturday 19th January 10-12 noon.

Always very popular and normally packed out. It’s free to come along and say hi and have a good old browse of the eclectic range of goodies on offer. Never quite knowing what our stall holders will arrive with, but we know it’ll be good. Tables sold out within days of it going online!

Of course, what would one of our events be without Mike’s delicious offerings in the refreshment line? So pop along to have a ganders, enjoy a cuppa and partake in a feast.

All monies raised will be going towards our Sensory Garden funds which is cracking on at a pace. We’ve already topped our target but that won’t stop us, the more we raise the more we can provide for the garden. (Further exciting news to come on this project later.)

The end of the month and Radipole Gardens will play host to Weymouth’s Holocaust Memorial Day Celebration.

The Mayor, Councillor Taylor will be leading the ceremony which this year is on Friday 25th January starting at 10 am by the Memorial Tree. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please arrive by 9.45 if you wish to join in the service.

The message for this 2019 service will be Torn From Home.

You can read more about their message and work in the link below. It is all-encompassing, crosses faith, nations, communities and country borders.
