In a couple of weeks time we will be hosting our annual Big Fun Day, only this year is a very special one.

Final BIG FUN DAY-4

Last winter we received the exciting news that we had got though stage I of or £1,4000,000 Parks for People Heritage Lottery Bid.

That’s no mean feat either.

It has taken our Chair, Mike Goulden literally thousands of hours of work to put together our submission, working alongside members of W&P borough council. It ended in a humungous volume of facts, figures, history of, social history, ecological study…you name it, it’s all in there!

So you see this year we are celebrating our success and heritage BIG style.

The links?…well you’ll have to come along to our 1940’s Big Fun Day to find out.

Look out for our Heritage Tent

which will be sporting a large display of old photos (courtesy Weymouth Museum) and local stories of Weymouth during two World Wars including images and ads of those shops and places of entertainment in town that resident soldiers would have made the most of.

And of course their link to our park and gardens history.

We have a fantastic line up for everyone, from story telling at the Grumpy Old Log for little’uns…

… to old military vehicles and their proud owners for those more historically minded.

(And yes that is a US vehicle…but that’s why you really need to discover our links.)

Anthony's WWII bike

There’s so much more in-between.

Live music to set your toes a’tapping and voices singing from The Decadettes and jiving away to the Mill Street Jazz Band onto magical twirling from the Amber Lights.

There’s chance to ride a miniature steam train
